At the "LOCKN' Festival" in Virginia on August 24, 2019, a complete reproduction of "Layla," an album only a family member like Derek could have afforded! (Forgive the trees in the garden.) We're bringing you a permanently preserved pressing featuring high-quality soundboard and high-quality promo footage! It's so exciting to hear a live take of "I LOOKED AWAY," a song EC has never performed live before, with Trey on vocals, and it's truly gratifying to see such a hugely popular album, packed with classics, being recreated. Here's a behind-the-scenes story... During Derek's visit to Japan in 2019, a fan gave him a birthday present: Mid Valley's classic "FILLMORE CONCERT," a multi-track soundboard recording of the Dominoes' complete Fillmore concert. "Wow! Thank you for such an amazing gift! I recently bought a new stereo system at home, so I'm looking forward to it! I'll also be getting a thick joint," he said with delight. When I asked him to sign the box set of "STARSIGN," which contains footage of three performances at the Budokan in 2006, he readily agreed, saying, "An autograph! Of course!" "Huh? Is this box set from that concert?" "Yes, you remember?" "Of course! The song selection at that Budokan concert was amazing. I want one too!" Apparently, he gave me the "STARSIGN" box set as a gift. While I'm not sure how this special setlist came about, I'm sure it moved him a little. As you all know, his name "Derek" comes from the band "Derek and the Dominoes," who released his parents' beloved album, "Layla." "Every song on this album is perfect. There's not a single bad one," he said. Enjoy this amazing live performance of his favorite album, "Layla."
